Car sales in Europe hit a new 19-year low in November

On December 13, the Association of Constructeurs Européens d'Automobiles (ACEA) announced the car sales data for November this year. The number of light vehicle registrations in the European Union’s 27 countries fell by 7.6% year-on-year, and the EFTA of the European Free Trade Association fell by 7.2%, a record low in 19 years.

If the EU-27 plus the European Free Trade Association EFTA in Iceland, Norway and Switzerland, the three Nordic countries, in November this year, the European market passenger vehicle sales were 965,918 units, compared with 1,074,591 units sold in the same period last year , a year-on-year decrease of 10.1%; from January to November this year, sales of passenger vehicles in the European market totaled 11,690,109 units, compared with 12,594,975 units sold in the same period of last year, representing a year-on-year decrease of 7.2%.

If the EU’s early 15 member states plus three of EFTA’s, the so-called Western Europe (actually Western Europe Nordic) region, sold 903,227 units in November this year, compared with 1,002,165 units sold in the same period last year. , year-on-year decrease of 9.9%; this year from January to November this year, the sales of passenger cars in Western Europe totaled 10,991,209 units, compared with 11,886,443 units sold in the same period of last year, a year-on-year decrease of 7.5%.

Single market sales: France suffers the worst of 15 years
In each single market, sales fell again in Germany, with 259,846 units sold in November, compared with 269,144 units in November last year, down 3.5% year-on-year; from January to November, 2,878,173 units were sold in the same period last year. The 2,929,133 units were down 1.7% year-on-year.

In November sales, the UK ranked second, and it was the only market in several major countries to maintain growth. 149,191 units increased by 11.3% year-on-year to 134,027 units in the same period of last year; 1,921 units sold in the first 11 months. 052 vehicles, compared with 1,822,065 vehicles in the same period of last year, an increase of 5.4% year-on-year.
