The jetsetters app now allows members who can afford a $7,000 fee to use their smartphones to call on private jets anywhere in the world, which can make luxury air travel easier. The JetSmarter application was created by Sergey Petrossov, 26, who allows the user to hire a private jet within seconds. He told reporters in Zurich: "Our goal as a company is to democratize private aviation." The company will open an office in Europe in 2015.
The application launched in March last year has more than 300,000 downloads and so far it has promoted more than 1,000 flights. While the average fare is approximately $20,000, users who pay $7,000 a year can become members and receive free or discounted flights. JetSmarter members are tech savvy, with an average age of 25 to 50 years old and earning at least $1 million a year. Some of the most popular routes include Miami, New York and Los Angeles.
