The Cursor engine is derived from SAIC Fiat Red Rock Powertrain Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “ Shang Fei Hong ” or “SFH”). Shang Fei Hong was established in June 2007 by SAIC Iveco Commercial Vehicle Investment Co., Ltd. ( SI), FPT Industrial of Italy, and Chongqing Machinery & Electric Holding Group (CQMEG) jointly invested and constructed. It is one of the largest diesel engine manufacturers in China, and also a proponent of high-tech, low-emission diesel engines in China.

Shang Fei Hong is located in the Huangmaoping Formation of Chongqing Economic Development Zone, a developed southwestern municipality directly under the jurisdiction of the automobile and its supporting industries. It was put into production in October 2008. With an area of ​​approximately 270,000 square meters, the company plans high-automation product assembly lines and processing production lines, and plans a complete logistics and supporting system. Modern production lines, office and living facilities and humanized management models have laid a solid foundation for the development of Shanghai Philippine Red. Its planned annual production capacity will reach 200,000 sets of diesel engine assemblies (of which 100,000 will be used for export). Shanghai Philippine Red has introduced FPT Fiat Power Technology's global advanced power technology, effectively used the world's advanced quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management systems, and has passed ISO14001:2004, OHSAS18001:2007 and ISO/TS16949:2009 formal certificate certification.

In April 2007, the National Development and Reform Commission approved the SAIC-FIAT Hongyan Powertrain Co., Ltd. project. The project will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 engines.

On June 15, 2007, the inauguration ceremony of SAIC Fiat Powertrain Co., Ltd. and SAIC Iveco Hongyan Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. were held in Chongqing. Leaders from the Shanghai municipal government, leaders of the Chongqing municipal government, representatives of the Italian Embassy in China, the European Union Chamber of Commerce, the European Chamber of Commerce, the Italian Chamber of Commerce, and domestic and foreign suppliers, distributors, and service providers attended the ceremony.

On October 16, 2008, the first engine assembled by the Philippine Red Assembly Line was formally rolled out.

On May 22, 2009, SAIC Fiat Hongyan Powertrain Co., Ltd., located in the northern district of Chongqing, officially opened its doors. At the opening ceremony, Tong Xiaoping, Vice Mayor of Chongqing, Francoi Amadei, Chairman of Fiat Group China, Xiao Guopu, Vice President of Shanghai Automotive and General Manager of Commercial Vehicles Division, and Shen Hui, President of FPT Fiat Power Technology China, Chongqing Heavy Industry Chairman of the service team Ren Yong made speeches and cut ribbons, and Alfredo Altavilla, CEO of FPT Fiat Power Technologies and Vice President of Fiat Automotive, sent a congratulatory letter. In the same year, the production line established and began production of the CURSOR9 (8.7 liters) engine.

In 2010, the assembly of the F1C (3-liter) engine began.

In 2012, production of the CURSOR13 (12.9 liters) engine began.

In 2016, production of the CURSOR11 (11.12 liters) engine began.

In 2017, production of CURSOR13 (12.9 liters) high-powered engines began.
