Siemens SCADA/DMS System Wins India's $24.5 Million Order

Siemens recently won an order valued at US$24,467,000 to provide power distribution network monitoring and data acquisition systems (SCADA/DMS) to India’s Maharashtra Power Distribution Co., Ltd., including Mumbai. The eight cities will install this system.

It is understood that this order is part of the plan to rebuild and accelerate electric power development and reform and is funded by the Indian government. In addition to improving the availability and transparency of distribution networks, SCADA/DMS systems are expected to reduce associated power losses by 15%. The system will be put into use in June 2013.

According to the terms of the contract, Siemens Infrastructure and Urban Services will provide all project management services for 8 cities and be responsible for the development, production, implementation and commissioning of the SCADA/DMS monitoring center. The order includes: installation of remote terminal devices in substations of various sizes, installation of more than 4,000 small remote terminal devices in 11 kV distribution substations, and installation of customer service systems, geographic information systems, etc. for rapid troubleshooting Integrated IT system. After the system is put into operation, Siemens will also provide five-year maintenance and other services.
