Today, 3D printing technology company M3D released its latest 3D printer Micro on the crowdfunding platform KickStarter. In 11 minutes, the project has completed a financing target of US$50,000, and the fundraising amount has now reached US$620,000, an excess of 1100%.
Micro applies up to 15 innovative designs and functions. According to measurements, this 3D printer is designed with a 185mm side cube and weighs about 1kg. The maximum size of a Micro printable object is 116mm, the bottom area can be 109mm×113mm, and the top area can be 91mm×84mm. In addition, Micro is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux systems, and supports USB connectivity and touch-enabled M3D software to provide an "efficient, hot-pluggable experience" that can take full advantage of open source software for a variety of custom extensions.
In return, Micro's lowest price is $199. Early users could get a Micro, "early user" badge and a roll of raw materials for only $199, but no shipping fees. At present, Micro's pledged quota of US$199 and US$249 on Kickstarter is full, leaving only a pledge level of US$299. The cheapest 3D printer currently available on the market is the Replicator Mini produced by MakerBot, which is priced at approximately $1,300.
According to M3D, the funds raised this time will be used to build the production line. Micro will begin mass production in August-September this year and is expected to be available for sale early next year.
