Following Michelin’s donation of RMB 500,000 to the Sichuan Red Cross Society in May this year after the Sichuan earthquake in May this year, Michelin (China) Investment Co., Ltd. announced on November 12th that the Michelin Group donated 500,000 Euros (about 5 million RMB) to the Sichuan disaster area. Michelin will donate 2.5 million yuan to cooperate with Chengdu Education Bureau to set up a Michelin Sichuan Scholarship to support 180 high school students who have been seriously affected by the 5.12 earthquake to successfully complete their studies and to study in the country. Michelin donated another 2.5 million yuan to rebuild the school damaged by the earthquake in special education schools in Jiangyou City.
Michelin has signed cooperation memoranda with the Chengdu Education Bureau and the Jiangyou Education and Sports Bureau.
The remainder of the Michelin donation will be treated as a mobile fund depending on the above two projects.
