Longxing Tunnel begins full construction

On June 11th, it was learned from the Chongqing Urban-rural Construction Committee that the construction of Longxing Tunnel, a key municipal construction project, has entered the phase of comprehensive construction. After the project is completed in 2020, Longxing Park will add a new tunnel through Tongluo Mountain and open up the destructive node of the airport south link under construction.

Longxing Tunnel Project is located in Liangjiang New Area. It started last year, starting from Shitang Avenue in the west and ending at the eastern side of the six vertical lines of the expressway. It has a total length of 5.35 kilometers and a total investment of 2.357 billion yuan. It has two-way six lanes and a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour. The tunnel construction period is 3 years. The main construction includes Longxing Tunnel, Shitang Avenue Interchange and its ancillary works. Among them, the Longxing Tunnel is a two-way, four-lane road with a total length of 3,200 meters.

The Longxing Tunnel Project is expected to be completed and put into use by the end of 2020. It will become a fast-track route from the Longsheng District of the Liangjiang New District to the Jiangbei Airport, the two roads and the new airport. With the opening of the Longxing Tunnel, the “Guangtou Road” of the south airport link will be opened, and people will only need 15 minutes to travel from Longxing Town to Jiangbei Airport. By then, the residents who work and live in the Yuzui, Fusheng, Longxing, and Shichuan areas of the Liangjiang New Area will be able to travel more conveniently.
