Nowadays, Hongrun has developed and produced five series of digital display instruments and regulators, paperless recorders, electrical instruments and tachometers, isolators and barriers, and process calibrators. In November 2013, Hongrun Company signed a contract with Academician Zhuang Songlin from the Shanghai University of Science and Technology to complete the establishment of academician expert workstations, and entered the ranks of Fujian Provincial Academician workstations. Lin Shanping said: “Introducing the intellectual resources of the academician team aims to further increase the company’s scientific and technological R&D efforts and make long-term planning and support for the company’s future scientific and technological development.”

Academician to upgrade the product

In April 2014, Zhuang Songlin led the team to go to Hongrun and participated in the unveiling ceremony of the Academician workstation. It marked that the academic team of experts and Hongrun had fully cooperated in the project.

Chen Zhiyang said that with the help of academician experts, the company has established a joint development platform to gather technical innovations from the source technology. "At the same time, through the funding and innovation mechanism, the joint platform can focus on the research of their respective areas of expertise and provide companies with innovative technology support platforms," ​​he said.

In the first year of its unveiling, the technology from the academician’s expert team achieved a significant increase in the "Fourier Series" in power meters, increasing the accuracy of the meter from one-thousandth to one-thousandth. This made Chen Zhiyang, who is responsible for the research and development work of the company, have sincerely admired the academician expert team.

In 2015, Hongrun company is developing a “fool-type operating temperature controller”, which means that product positioning does not require manual setting parameters and is simple to operate. “This requires very high precision in temperature control and requires a new algorithm to support it.” Chen Zhiyang and R&D personnel realized that the company’s own R&D capability alone is not enough to complete the development of this new algorithm.

So they found the Zhuang Songlin team. Three months later, a team of academicians and experts expertly developed the fuzzy pid formula for the development of this product. After getting the algorithm, Chen Zhiyang led the R&D team to complete the subsequent programming, chip implantation, and object debugging. Not long afterwards, a "fool-type operating thermostat" with a temperature control accuracy of 0.5 degrees Celsius was introduced.

"Without the support of the Zhuang academician team, there is no birth of this product." Chen Zhiyang said.

Adhesion technology economy "two skins"

In the past three years, Hongrun and Zhuang Songlin’s team of academicians have cooperated in five scientific and technological projects and conducted product research and technological innovations. The company has achieved significant economic benefits—an annual output value of 28 million yuan. At the same time, the workstation also adopts the "incoming" and "going out" training models, inviting academicians and expert teams to train professional scientific and technical personnel for the company and contribute to the cultivation of innovative talents for the company.

Today, Hongrun is challenging the challenges of intelligent "data collection workstations." “Unlike the single instrument we developed before, this system has very high technical requirements and is equivalent to the development of a computer.” Chen Zhiyang expects that new products will be available as soon as possible under the technical support of the academician team.

The phenomenon of “two skins” in the science and technology economy has been criticized for many years. On the one hand, scientific research results cannot get out of the laboratory. On the other hand, enterprises are also struggling to find key technologies for transformation and upgrading.

According to Sha Zhongran, director of the Association of Academicians of the Fujian Provincial Science and Technology Association, an academician workstation is one of the "good recipes" for solving this problem. The data shows that since the establishment of the first academician’s expert workstation in Fujian in April 2009, the province has built 145 workstations, 133 academicians stationed in the station, 929 members of the team of academicians entering the station, and 513 cooperation projects.
