Researchers create new electric car heaters

The electric car's motor needs to share battery power with all the electronic components in the car, so when you turn on the heater during the winter, the car's battery life will be greatly reduced. However, recently, researchers have developed an ultra-thin carbon nanotube heater that may change this.

Compared to traditional cars, electric motors do not generate a lot of heat, so the heating needs of the latter are much greater. And recently, researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation in Germany have developed a new type of ultra-thin plate heater consisting of conductive carbon nanotubes that are only a few microns thick and can be mounted on Anywhere.

In order to maximize the efficiency of this type of heater in electric vehicles, researchers embedded the heating plate in the body panels around the passengers so that its passive heat dissipation can be as close as possible to passengers.

According to reports, such a conductive carbon nanotube film can not only convert current into heat more efficiently (to reduce the burden on the car battery), but also realize instantaneous heating and cooling. In this way, when you get into a cold car in the winter morning, you can make the car warm immediately without having to wait for a few minutes and shiver.
