On September 7, Yantai signed a series of cooperation agreements with many domestic aerospace giants such as COMAC, China Aerospace, and AVIC Avionics. Among them, the titanium alloy fastener project with a contracted investment of 320 million yuan is the first potential supplier of standard parts selected by domestic large aircraft. Yantai has thus been involved in the manufacturing of large domestic aircraft.
Yantai signed a total of four agreements, Yantai City Government, China Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd. and China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation signed a cooperation framework agreement; Yantai City Government and CATIC Avionics Systems Co., Ltd. signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement; Shanghai Aircraft Design Research The hospital signed a cooperation agreement with Dongfang Blue Sky Titanium Technology Co., Ltd. on the development of titanium alloy fasteners for large passenger aircrafts; Yantai Hi-tech Zone and Oriental Blue Sky Titanium Gold Technology Co., Ltd. signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement. This is another signing of Yantai Aerospace's contracting activities following the signing of a cooperation agreement for investment in the civil aviation and electric power industry companies in Shanghai in July this year.
The development of a large aircraft reflects the overall strength of a country, and the standard parts are critical to the strength and life span of the aircraft structure. According to the plan, China will achieve the goal of 80% of the installed capacity of domestic large-scale passenger planes in 2016. According to reports, the number of standard components for the C919 large passenger aircraft developed in China is approximately 1.09 million, and the number of titanium fasteners involved in Yantai contraction amounts to more than 200,000, accounting for approximately 20% of the total number of standard components.
After years of development, Yantai has formed a number of supporting companies and products for the aerospace industry. Wanhua, Nanshan, Junlin, and other aircraft seat materials, heat insulation materials, charcoal trays and other products produced by Yantai enterprises have been supplied to the aircraft manufacturing industry in batches, and are equipped with aviation coatings, aluminum profiles, sound-absorbing and sound insulation materials, and aluminum alloy wire materials. The R&D and production capabilities of large categories of products also have the potential to provide support in the fields of tires, magnetic materials, and motors.
Yan Tao, director of the Yantai City Economic and Information Commission, said that the relevant cooperation agreement signed this time will help Yantai to develop its traditional advantages in machinery manufacturing and electronic information industry, and research and develop production of electromechanical equipment and avionics equipment for large aircrafts and regional aircrafts. Yantai will seize the opportunity of this comprehensive cooperation to rely on the civil aircraft avionics industry company and the commercial aircraft titanium alloy fastener project to fully strive for a batch of large aircraft supporting production projects to settle down in Yantai and take part in large aircraft projects. The focus is on the development of aerospace, a strategic emerging industry, in four areas: aviation support, aerospace support, general aircraft manufacturing, aviation maintenance and logistics.
To this end, Yantai will also set up an aerospace industry promotion committee in the near future to coordinate the resolution of major issues in the development of the aerospace industry. At the same time, it will also adopt government-led and market-oriented methods, set up aerospace industry investment funds and special development funds to reward or subsidize leading enterprises, key projects, and supporting certification, and accelerate the development of the aerospace industry.
Domestic large aircraft planning
According to Shi Jianzhong, deputy general manager of China Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as China Combustion), according to the development plan, the development and industrialization of domestic large aircraft will go through three phases: from 2009 to 2014, the completion of the final assembly base will be completed and realized. Aircraft research and development support capabilities; from 2015 to 2020, mass production of 150-seat single-aisle large passenger aircraft will be realized; from 2021 to 2025, mass production of 250-seat dual-aisle large passenger aircraft will be realized.
On November 30, 2009, Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute was officially established. On December 28th, 2009, the Pudong Base of China COMAC General Assembly and Manufacturing Center was laid in Shanghai. This marks the gradual completion of the construction of conditional capabilities for the development of China Commercial Aircraft's large passenger aircraft.
As for the appearance and posture of the domestically produced large aircraft, according to experts, “the same shape we see with the Airbus A320 and the Boeing B737.†According to Wang Wenbin, assistant to General Manager of China Commercial Aircraft Corporation, the localization rate determined by the large aircraft is 30%, and it is trying to fully surpass the Airbus A320 and Boeing B737 in terms of competitiveness. According to Chen Jin, head of the marketing department of China Commercial Marketing, the first plane made by China’s largest airliner was officially named the C919 with a standard seat of 168 seats. The C919 preliminary design plan has been completed and has been reported to the State Council. The first large aircraft is scheduled to fly first in 2014 and will be certified for airworthiness in 2016. In 20 years, it has reached an annual target of 150 large passenger aircrafts.
