University of Electronic Science and Technology developed a micro-optical fiber sensor

The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China developed a micro-nano fiber Fabry Perot sensor. The use of laser microfabrication technology to fabricate fiber-optic cavity has a simple method and one-time molding.

Recently, the team of Prof. Rao Yunjiang of the Optical Fiber Technology Research Center of the School of Communication of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China applied the 157nm and femtosecond laser micromachining technology to create a new generation of micro-nano fiber Fabry Perot sensors. It is reported that, compared with the traditional hand-made methods, the use of laser micro-fabrication technology to produce fiber-optic cavity has a simple method, a molding, can achieve high-quality optical fiber Fabry-Perot cavity and other outstanding advantages, has a good application prospects.
