Rapid extraction of active ingredients from traditional Chinese medicine

The research project of microwave-assisted dynamic and rapid extraction of active ingredients from traditional Chinese medicine undertaken by Jilin University has recently been identified by experts from the Science and Technology Department of Jilin Province. Experts believe that the results of this study can be used for the study of active ingredients of Chinese medicine, quality testing and new drug development.

The project utilizes a microwave resonator as a microwave coupling device to dynamically extract the active ingredients of various Chinese medicines, and establishes a combined system of microwave-assisted extraction and UV spectrophotometry and liquid chromatography for on-line extraction, separation, and derivatization. Determination of active ingredients in Chinese medicine has achieved satisfactory results.

According to experts, the series of dynamic microwave-assisted extraction methods established this time is innovative, with the main features of reducing the amount of sample and extraction solvent, saving the extraction time, making the analysis process of active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine more simple and convenient, and automated. A high degree of accuracy improves the analysis.
