German machine tool orders increased 32% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2011

The German Machinery and Equipment Manufacturers Federation (VDMA) announced that in the first quarter of 2011, orders for the machine tool industry in Europe, the largest economy in Europe, continued to grow, but the growth rate slowed slightly. In the first quarter, German machine tool orders increased by 32% compared to the same period in 2010. Among them, German orders increased by 35%, and overseas orders increased by 31%. VDMA chief economist Ralph Wiechers pointed out: "As expected, the normal growth trend of machine tool orders has arrived." He added that compared to the low level during the economic crisis, this result has become less important because The industry has shown a rebound signal since early 2010. German machine tool manufacturers hope to create 20,000 jobs in 2011, making the total employment of the industry more than 9300 people. According to VDMA, the export-driven German machine tool industry will grow by 10% to 14% for the full year of 2011.
