First, it was monopolized by a few countries.” Professor Wang Liqun, deputy director of the Institute of Polymer Science of Zhejiang University, and the head of the LNG Marine Insulation Materials Project Team, said that after nearly two years of scientific research, Zhejiang University and Zhejiang Deqing For the first time, County Pusen Refractory Co., Ltd. has developed rigid insulating polyurethane foam materials using polyurethane raw materials in China, and obtained the certifications of French GTT Company and American ABS Classification Society, which can be applied to LNG ships. After the trial evaluation of the LNG ship by Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., all technical indicators of the product meet the design requirements.

Hudong Zhonghua is the only company that currently builds LNG ships in China. The company started construction of the first LNG ship in China from the end of 2004. “At the time, Hudong Zhonghua entrusted Pusen Company to explore the localization of LNG marine insulation and thermal insulation materials. This project fell on our heads.” Wang Liqun said that Pusen is a private enterprise with more than 20 years of experience. History, as early as 2000, began scientific and technological cooperation with Zhejiang University. “We built a research and development center in Pusen in August 2005 and set up a project team to organize the technical backbone of the school and the enterprise to jointly tackle the problem.”

According to the technical requirements of LNG ships, materials should have good thermal insulation properties and bearing properties, and must have a lower density. The project team took the rigid polyurethane foam as the entry point and carried out research and development with the goal of the technical specification of the LGT ship's patentee, the French GTT company. “We design from the molecular structure of the material to obtain a polyurethane foam adiabatic rigid material with ultra-high compressive strength; at the same time, the rigid structure is introduced to make the material have creep resistance; and the material is microscopically and sub-microscopically innovative, so that it can It has physical stability in the temperature range of 80 ° C to 162 ° C." Wang Liqun said that the research team has solved these key technologies and developed rigid insulating polyurethane foam materials for the first time in China using polyurethane raw materials.
